This is on my son’s truck a 2015 F250 6.7l 4WD with 139k-miles.
About 4-days ago my son’s truck popped up this warning on his dash cluster.
”In 50-miles speed limited to 50-mph” also “exhaust fluid system fault”. These two messages came up together on the cluster.
Checked for codes he has a 207F code “Generic reductant quality performance”
His DEF tank was below half so he added a jug, 2.5 gal, but no change. His fuel warning light is on meaning low of fuel not sure if anything is related to that? He has about 15-miles to the 50-mph limiting so we haven’t added fuel yet.
*fuel filters are at 15k-miles so those need changing.

Thoughts on this…wondering where to start?
Thanks in advance,
Mike
Someone with more knowledge than me will chime in soon. But, that code can be related to old, crystalized DEF contaminating the mixing grate or something related to a plugged EGR cooler. Oh, FYI, never a good idea to run these trucks that low on fuel...
Thanks for your reply and I couldn’t agree more about the low fuel, which I have warned him about in the past. Millennials…sheez!
I believe a few weeks back he had some regen message which was cleared after he drove it about 50 miles on the freeway. Wonder if that was an early warning to this current problem?

You might get more answers on how to fix it in the 6.7 subgroup here - 6.7L Diesel
But any "fix" is almost guaranteed to be temporary.
My first thoughts are "it's delete time". It's a 10yr old truck (like mine) it's surprising it isn't deleted yet. I waited over 8 years due to an 8yr/100k Ford ESP warranty.
Shortly after it expired I got a DEF fault warning ( for the second time since new). Took it to dealer to see if it was covered under the service bulletin 21M01 ..... it wasn't.
So over $300 later they replaced a $15 relay and it was fixed. Shortly thereafter aftermarket parts were ordered and oem parts fell off.....
Best $2000 I've spent on it so far. And it runs SOOOOO much better.

Similar story for my 2011, things didn't fall off until 2018 a couple years after warranty expired. First it was EGT sensors near the DPF, later it was the DEF tank heater or reductant heater I think they called it. Parts were ordered to convert at that point. Luckily I don't have to worry about emissions testing. Like you I consider it the best money ever spent on the truck and it does run much better.
I feel for the folks that do have to deal with the emissions testing every year, especially in situations like this where the seemingly best solution won't work for them.
Ya I have considered the delete/no delete for smog test but that does sound bothersome every two years.
My last smog check, earlier this year, the guy crawled all over my truck and underneath looking for those mods, etc. I think CA is cracking down on the Smog guys to do a better job?
Bummer! We got the same message today. We hooked up our laptop with the Forscan software to the OB2 port and it told us the DPF was 132% full of soot. We then( and I used the term "we" loosely, because my wife did all the computer stuff) forced a regen which bought the soot level down to 12%. The program called that a success. We did too.
Now, the slightly harder part is to clear the P207F code and messages. Which are permanent. She's still googling the crap out of that. We'll tackle it tomorrow.
We replaced the DEF pump, DEF injector and heater in the fall of '22. We're a little disappointed that we're having this issue now.
I'll update what we find out.

When I got a P20XX (can't recall the exact code) I was able to clear the check engine light, but like you said.... it was still in there somewhere....
It also put the truck in a slightly de-rated power mode. Not total limp mode, but you could tell it WAS NOT running at full power.
