2019 F250 6.2 XLT. I have a SCT BDX running some 5 Star tunes. The display on the BDX will randomly go dim, then back to full brightness, pretty much all in a split second. No other lights on the truck do this. I had the device replaced, and the replacement device does it. I was using a 270 degree HMDI adapter, so I thought maybe that was the issue. Replaced it and same thing. Lastly, I replaced the original cord with a new cord with the 270 angle built in, same problem. So there is an issue with either the ODB2 port on the truck, the voltage regulator, a ground, something. Any help is appreciated. I do have a nice TopDon AD500 scanner that can monitor live data, but I am unsure of what exactly I need to watch and in which module. I also have Forscan that can be used as well. Thanks for any help.
If you think it’s the voltage I would suggest you try this…it’s an inline voltage regulator .
worst case it will be too dim all the time due to the regulation and if that becomes the case you can send it back and replace with an adjustable one. You can size the regulator based on the fuse size of your device. Me personally would go with
HOMELYLIFE DC Voltage Reducer DC 8V-40V to 12V 6A but if it too dim try
HOMELYLIFE Voltage Converter DC 8V-40V to 13.8V 10A
note that you need to relay control the voltage feed to the regulator with a key switched on feed otherwise you will drain your battery if you install it direct since it will always be on with out the relay.
