Extend Time Power Steps Remain Deployed

Anyone had any experience with Forescan trying to extend the time the steps stay deployed? Eveytime I got out of the truck and go aropund to open the door for my GF the steps close just a tad too soon. Ends up double deploying each time. Thanks..chivaly is not dead!

You should be able to go into the settings in your Infotainment and set them to extended time.

Auto
The power running boards deploy when
you approach your vehicle with a remote
control, unlock the door or open the door.
The power running boards stow:
• After a few seconds when you close
the doors.
• Instantly after you close and lock the
doors.
• If you unlock the door but do not open
it, after the timeout.
• If you have switched approach
detection on and do not open a door
before the auto timer setting expires.
• When the vehicle speed is more than
3 mph (5 km/h).
Note:When you select this mode, an option
displays that allows you to select how long
the running boards stay deployed without
opening the door.

No Forscan, and the dealer can't change it either. It's either "Standard" (supposedly about 25 seconds according to the screen) or 5 minutes. I ended up changing mine to 5 minutes. Sometimes it's 3 minutes, sometimes it's 6 minutes. But better than the 8-10 seconds on the Standard setting.

I use the exstended feature most
it is or seems quirky at times
If you have the exstended setting turned on
say you arrive home
shut down, open your door, get out. Close door
they will stay deployed for 5...it's a fast five
If you open any other door during this period..and that door is open more than a few seconds, it sort of restarts the timer
If you close doors, walk away without locking
they will stay deployed for 5 then retract
If you fob the lock, or key pad they will retract
the cycle ends
If you approach and fob to unlock
they deploy on standard time. And will only go into extended deploy if you open a door,
wait a few seconds and Close that door.
they will remain deployed
If you start and put in drive or reverse they will retract at the 3 to 5 mph.
Remember if you have fob on you
and keep walking up to vehicle they will deploy if in auto
but that is not a 5 minute thing
and if you wall around a dealer lot with fob..you will deploy every super duty you walk by
I found this out at my dealer as service guy and I were looking at how many had locked hubs, thst were in for service
provided approach detection is on
