2022 purchased used in 2024. When I was looking at the truck on the lot I notice a slight leak under the tranny cross member. Dealer fixed it ( no fix info was provided and salesman stated it was an oil leak) and it was not leaking when I took ownership. about 5000 miles later it started to leak again and my mechanic found it during an inspection while doing service work and stated it was a tranny pan leak. Took it to my dealership (not the one purchased from) and they stated it was the output shaft and replaced the seal with an updated version. All was good until I took it in for the next service work at my mechanic again found it leaking and diagnosed tranny pan again. Took it back to dealership and they replaced the output shaft AGAIN stating the job was not done correctly the first time so a new seal was installed by a different tech. Now it's leaking again. I plan to take it back in and hope to convince the service guy (good guy IMHO) to have the tranny pan dropped and resealed.
So, 2 shaft seals and the leak is back.
If I can't get the dealership to do what I ask I'll have my mechanic do a tranny service and see if he can fix the leak. I'm hoping though that I can get it done under warranty.
Anyone hear of output shaft seals being defective or is there something else I should have looked at?
I'm tired of a nice truck making a mess on my driveway.
