My Ranger
My only real complaint is the cabin quietness. It interior noise level is much worse than the F-150. No where near as quiet inside as I would like. Other than the noise level inside it is a great truck.
Anyone else coming from an F-150 feel the same about the interior noise levels.
Yes yes, a Ranger Lariat priced out is only going to get you an F150 STX. Big difference in equipment. I gotta ask, is three MPG's average really worth downsizing? Personally, I think it is but what about the hard core truck buyer?
What I find most intriguing about the Ranger is the work it can do with the base 2.3L engine. The 2.3L is perhaps one of Ford's most reliable engines right now. Maintenance is easy and it's pretty easy on fuel.
How well will it hold it's value in comparison to the Taco? Toyota is still selling on past reputation and they've brought a great looking truck to market.
I think Ford is holding back production so they don't flood the dealers with too much stock so they can keep the price up.
Now Ford is offering employee pricing which when translated is nothing more that A-plan pricing which is what Ford employees pay. There's a plan fee of $275 and no other incentives to buy.
I think the Ranger is going to prove itself as the best buy in the mid size category. I also think the 10 speed will prove out to be the weak link on the truck if it's not diligently serviced well ahead of factory schedule.
As a for instance, my Explorer has 52K on it, the trans service will be performed at or before 75K because I just don't trust this transmission to last 150K between services.
