Recently, my limited slip rear differential has been acting up. Lately, it's been acting like an open diff. It's also been slipping when coming to a stop and accelerating. I'm thinking the clutches are toast. What's the processes of replacing these with carbon fiber clutches? Axle code: 4N
Ok thanks, was worried my transmission was having issues for a bit. Could this damage other parts if I don't get them replaced or will it just be annoying?

Just annoying. Moving to a geared limited slip is so much better than using a clutched limited slip. The failure mechanism for a clutched limited slip is to act like an open diff.

I have never heard of a worn out limited slip rear end causing slipping while coming to a stop or accelerating. Acting like an open differential, sure but actual slipping does sound much more like a transmission issue than a differential issue to me.
I guess slipping isn't the best descriptive for this. What happens is that when the outside temperature is around 70°, it feels like a rumble coming from the back of the truck. It Does this at the last half second of braking and first half second of acceleration. It's not exactly slipping, which is my fault for describing it that way. It has good acceleration, shifts great, fluid is bright red, no overheating, and no trans codes on the pcm. I am however getting an abs module communication error, or at least I was about 2 weeks ago. Could this have something to do with it? Although that wouldn't explain why it does it on acceleration. Again it only does this when it's 70 or more outside, accelerates and brakes smoothly when it's cooler out.
When turning sharp, i do hear a bit of rubbing coming from the back, so im guessing thats the diff. Could the rumble just be an older transmission having looser parts or worn bearings or could it be the fact that I never changed the diff fluid? (Oops). I can't find a fill plug or drain plug on it. Does that mean i have to take the whole cover off?
**update**
I found the fill plug. Turns out it was covered by a bunch of dirt and oil hence the reason I couldn't see it. Can I just pump the old fluid out or do I need to take the whole cover off.
