I've got a 1995 f150 XLT with a 351 Windsor and dual tanks. Both pumps and tanks have been replaced as well as the fuel filter about a year or so ago. Here recently I've had a check engine light that comes on sporadically for low fuel pressure and when I hooked up a fuel pressure gauge it's reading 20 psi when it should be 30 to 45 PSI as this is my daily driver. I really like to get this issue sorted but I'm at a loss at to what it could be any help would be appreciated.
Yes. We'd love to help you get your truck running right! What was the trouble codes? Your ECU has no clue what the fuel pressure is or if it's low. There's no fuel pressure sensor on your truck. The ECU will trip the check engine light when the fuel pressure is low enough to cause a lean trouble codes, because the engine isn't getting enough fuel.
The easiest thing to do right now is to check the ECU ground on the radiator support by the driver side head light. Remove the bolt and clean the terminals with a wire brush before reinstalling them. Do the same thing to the fuel pump ground terminal by the driver side hood hinge.
If you have a multimeter, you can check for voltage at the fuel pump connector and check the amperage the pumps are drawing while they're running.
