Ok heres the story.
All of a sudden my 360 started to run like crap when i reved it up. its like its missing when i try to rev it up. So i check the coil with a tester and i checked the gaps in the distributer. I got so mad that i pulled the whole front end off to look at the timing gear but it was all good. i checked for a leak in the vacume from the dist to the carb. when i take the vacume off it runs better. Also i unhooked my tack and it seemed to run a bit better.
The reason im REALLY ticked off is cause it did this all of a sudden with no signs of warning. I hope ive givin all the info you need to diagnos this problem. If you need for info just ask.
Hey Scott,
A couple of years ago, I had a very similar problem on my 68.
After a week of poking , prodding and testing, I found Nothing!
An Oldtimer I know came over and simply replaced my condensor and it ran fine ??
And to beat it all, I replaced points and condensor first thing?? Guess I got a bad one??
Anyway, give it a shot, Its cheap enough that it won't hurt, if that is not the problem.
Well we all have to learn this and back in my day it was the hard way No computers for help. 1 Check all wires in and around the Dist. & coil, wire on points to be tight. Check all plug wires with an Ohm meter Look at hot wire inside Dist. the insulation may have worn a hole through by rubbing the inside wall of your Dist. as your Dist plate moves. Look in Dist Cap for hair line cracks. Check engine running at night for spark leaks from plug wires and so on (have a helper) Alot of guys never replace plug wires. Then when it's damp or raining there engine starts to miss because of bad plug wires. If all good do like the other guys said check in top of carb. pump shot squirt jets if it's not a good even squrit than I would check it running but you need to have safey glasses on, it may back fire out the carb. so be careful. If engine is running and you don't get a strong squirt then, I would say it's your pump shot diagram. On some have a rubber one and others a a ball bearing type Your pump shot is returning back in to the float chamber. This will make it stumble miss pop back in the carb. Also check your fuel psi 4-6 lbs, fuel filter. And if that has a resistor block on the coil it may be bad and not burned out. Most engine tune ups take care of some little problems that can't be found. So just do a Compete tune-up wires and al.. My 2 cents, hope this has help you in some way.......
