OBS ECM Thread
OBS ECM Thread
I know this topic has been belabored but I'm hoping to gather and clarify this information here.
My particular situation:
I have a 1996 F250 4x4 with an E4OD. Not shockingly the auto is about to give up the ghost and I'm looking to swap in a ZF5.
This forum has documented the mechanical process if this extensively in my case this is a very achievable swap.
I am in need of an ECM for this project and I have what I believe to be the correct ECM PN (F6TF-12A650-BFA) I need to buy but the purpose of this post is to get some clarification on that.
Now, mainly I'd like to gather (as well as report) as much in formation I can about ECM Part Numbers and calibrations codes.
I have read through a lot of posts where users are just throwing out "oh you need this PN:" or "What's your calibrations code in the door jam" then comeback with the ECM part number associated with their trucks spec.
From my understating the most meaningful areas of the PCM number are the first two digits (year) and the last 3 (I assume this is related to the spec of the driveline)
Is there some sort of repository for determining what ECM goes with which calibration code?
Is there any way to decipher what the last 3 digits of the ECM part number mean?
I would assume at this point, based on the research I have done, that nothing like this exists at this time.
Hopefully at a minimum that is something we my be able to clarify here.
If you don't have any input on this and would like to participate, please comment the YEAR, MODEL, ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, DRIVLINE TYPE, ECM PN, CALIBRATION CODE, AND EMMSISIONS (fed or cali) of your truck and we can start building a pseudo database for this information.
