ive had my 2006 since 2010 got 205k miles on it now. i like the pickup and have had very few issues. the thing is it is starting to get rust and i found a different one a 2006 harley davidson edition with 109k miles no rust. the one im looking at says: front end was rebulit, redhead steering gear, kc stage 2 turbo, odawg intake manifold, banks intercooler and piping, arp head studs, o-ring oem heads, egr delet, mishimoto radiator, 4 " exhaust, stock injectors, custom tunes are (looney, looney wild, tow, street, eco) also comes with fass fuel system all fluids were changed using amsoil fluids asking price is $25k.
what you guys think about the harley one and what are a few things to look for and any way to see without removing heads if it is studded and new heads? I do have a SCT livewire for monitoring
I'd sure want to know who did all the work. That's about 10 G's; I'd sure want to verify the mechanic was a 6.0 expert. IIRC, there are a couple head bolts visible that you can look at to verify if it has studs... I agree the price seems high, & after dumping so much money into it, why is the owner selling? Harley edition is somewhat rare & collectible.
Why not just spend 10k and refresh your current truck?
Rust free cab+box and get the frame cleaned+painted and toss on some new parts etc etc. Like why risk spending 25k on a used 6.0 that could potentially turn out to be a lemon?

Btw any pics of your current truck?
I'll get some pics and post them. I have thought about just fixing mine but was told be around 15k to do everything. That includes a new box front fenders and the whole thing painted

15k to refresh the reliable rig or 25k for an unknown rig, seems like an easy choice to me. Vet the shops doing the work though and thoroughly too!
If an engine gets that much work done, the person/shop doing it had better have an amazing reputation or a stellar warranty. The way the work was done is as important as the LIST of work done, maybe even more so!
The SCT LiveWire is better than nothing for monitoring, but it has a history of reading a PID or two wrong (like the EBP), and not pull codes thoroughly.
You are FAR better off with FORScan on a laptop or even FORScan Lite on a smart device.
You also should have a way to quickly add a degas bottle pressure gauge and a fuel pressure gauge.
Ask your insurance company what they would pay out on the Harley if it got totaled, and then decide if the difference between that dollar amount and $25k is worth the risk.
The cost to repair a fender bender on my truck (that was 100% the other driver's fault) has brought me dangerously close to supposed full market value of my truck, which I have now invested $35K into over the last four years.
