Camper electrical question.
Camper I bought has a 30 amp cord that you pull out and feed back in though a port. I remember seeing where someone converted theirs to a shore receptacle and just plug the cord into the side of the trailer. For those who have a camper set up like this what type of receptacle does it have? Is it a twist lock type? I was looking at a receptacle and plug end like above and converting my cord.

My previous Jayco came with the same kind of shore power cord. I used a
to do the conversion. The kit contains everything needed to make the switch, though I did add some butyl tape under the new assembly when it was fastened to the side. This album has a few pictures of the conversion - https://photos.app.goo.gl/eugvtVu5o2dJcVgX8. The cord does use a twist lock along with a threaded ring when connecting the cord to the receptacle.

That kit looks like it will direct replace the cord cover and eliminate stuffing the cord in the hole. It will actually give me another cabinet in the kitchen if I make a door where the dummy panel is covering the cord storage compartment.

I considered doing that conversion on my old camper. Blindly stuffing the cord into the compartment gets old real fast. I was going with a cord with a 90° plug on the camper end so the cord went straight down instead of sticking out. My thinking was that by going straight down there would be less leverage/stress on the outlet.
In the end, I sold the camper before that project could get any further than the drawing board. The new camper has a bigger cord compartment and so it's easier to stuff.

When I purchased my 5er new, 2009 it came with the twist and lock set up already installed. Very pleased with setup .You will still need to find a place to store the cord but that has never bothered me.
