Lights killed battery

Recently left my parking lights on and came out to dead batteries, 2018 F-350 XLT does not have an auto shutdown after a period off time?

I think its a safety thing that they stay on.

Say you are dozing at rest area parking lot for a few hours and want to keep vehicle illuminated but headlights off.

If you leave the light switch on they stay on, think that is the only thing that is like that on the truck besides the emergency flashers.

I left my stove on, I burned down my house, why didn't it shut itself off?

I don't understand, You manually set something and you expected to turn off by itself?

Yeah, but...
The rest of the electrical system does time out and go to sleep, and if it has auto headlights and the switch is set to auto, they will shut off after a set time.

Oh well, a learning experience for this guy.
