How to drop running boards? My new-to-me 2020 SD XLT FX4 has chrome running boards tucked up right next to the cab bottom and I'd like to lower them about 2". Are there kits? Different hangers? Do different styles of F250 have different boards or hangers? Mine are chrome and while looking at trucks I saw some really sturdy looking black ones with rubber all along the top. They were oblong in cross-section.
I appreciate any help you can give me.

OEM F150 running board brackets are about a two inch drop and Superduty brackets are about a four inch drop, both bolt up the same and are interchangeable. You can probably find Superduty brackets cheap as takeoff since many offroad type users raise the factory boards by swapping brackets.
The truck is a Super Duty or SD. I think it had a bed replacement so it doesn't have the FX4 decals., but Carfax's original window sticker shows it to be an FX4.
I don't know if the running boards on it now are OEM or not. They're chrome with rubber covered flat spots for the doors.
.I'm wondering about the Tremor or other taller F250s.

We have no idea what running boards you have on the truck
Cab is the same as F150, so the brackets on yours may be F150 ones, F250 specific are longer, hang down further.

The SD Tremor brackets are shorter. There's plenty of people that swap the brackets from Tremor to either SD or F150 ones to get them to set a little lower.
My guess is you have F150 brackets. I did the that swap on my 2017 and the boards were tight to the cab. Tremor brackets are about an inch off the cab but step itself are not at thick as the regular chrome boards so not sure if they won't still be cab tight. The normal SD brackets are about 4" as mentioned. You can find Tremor boards on marketplace easy enough but most want to much for them. I swapped my chrome for Tremor's and like the Tremors a lot better but that's me.
After some careful studying the online versions of Ford's paarts book, plus crawling under my truck I found that the running boards are Ford chrome and the brackets are probably F150. I have some Super Duty brackets on order to fix my problem. Thanks to everyone for pointing me in the right direction.
