I bought my first diesel truck sight unseen to replace my 87 f-150 that i finally gave up on fixing. The truck was an early 2003 6.0 in a F-250 4x4. It had been sitting a long time, owner parked it for over 3 year next to a barn (really) and his nephew bought a couple batteries and it started right up. I bought it cheap, drove it back to my home in Maryland at night, no front brakes and no power past initial throttle. Like the other 3/4 of the peddle were for show, not for go.
Next day, i found the oil cooler leaking, up pipes were rusted so bad they were barely attached. I was thinking the worst (head gaskets) so I figured if a new F-250 like this one went for $100,000... I could put some money into this one... I drive my vehicles till there is nothing left.
With a lot of help, I replaced heads, coolers, high pressure oil pump, exhaust manifolds (corrosion destroyed one side, the other was cracked) and a// the rubber. ^ months later, I have it on the road but that power issue remains.
When cold, I may as well not drive at all, only power is a crack of idol, 1000RPM. fully warm, it has about half the throttle responding, really nothing happens past that except the trans shifts down. I can hear the turbo only once the truck has warmed up, and then it just does not sound or feel like it is doing much good.
There is no tuner, and I don't have the right interface to get detailed readings.. could use recommendations on a tester and a tuner (if that is a good idea) . Truck is used to pull a trailer to the dump once a week and to make lumber runs (cabinet lumber) and such. Not a daily driver. My buddy's tell me to take a road trip, blow it out... while not a bad idea, I have determined they are as experienced as the last you tube video they watched.
I would expect the power response would be in the lower rpm, initial throttle, but there is nothing else. It can't be right. Please help

I do like my truck, want to keep it so don't tell me to chuck it an start over please.
Best I can tell you is to post in the 6.0 forum. Honestly everyone aside from die hard 6.0 owners are going to tell you to get out now before it gets more expensive.

x2 you'll definitely get more responses and knowledge from the guys in the 6oh section for sure.
Just my .02 but check your accel pedal, mine on my 02 F350 gave me nothing, very little, then all of it, ended up the contacts had worn down inside it, was not going to pay $800 for new moving pedal assy. so I went with the non moving assy. and it works just fine, I never moved the pedals anyways.
