Cylinder Head Temp sensor query - knowledge needed!
Hello Gents,
I have an 2003 F250 5.4 Gas (Petrol) sold new RHD by Ford Australia.
I recently did a full engine rebuild, including TrickFlow heads.
My Truck seems to have only ONE temp sensor, which would have been screwed into the left head, under the intake manifold.......but NOT in actual contact with the coolant.
My engine rebuilder threw away this sensor, since the TrickFlow heads have no hole for this sensor to screw into.
I did a work around with a Resistor, however, this means there is NO cold start, which is becoming more annoying as the Southern Hemisphere heads toward winter....
I have now got a new sensor. 8L3Z6G004A
I am considering mounting it in an existing hole in the top of the Thermostat housing, which I will drill and tap to suit - without going down INTO the coolant.
MY QUERY
Will doing this mean the sensor will read too hot too early and send me into limp mode, etc???
Suggestions for any better place to mount this sensor are also very welcome..
I'd suggest consulting with the head supplier to see how they should have addressed this.
