Hello 6.7 group,
After 16 years of 6.4 ownership, I am finally moving up to the 6.7. This evening, I will purchase a 2019 lariat with 50,000 miles on it from a dealer. The write ups say the 6.7 is very reliable, but I wanted to hear it from you that drive them every day. Let me know if spending $5500 on an unlimited time/hundred thousand mile nearly bumper to bumper warranty is a good idea or a waste of money. Since I only drive the truck about 6000 miles a year, it works out to be about 8 1/2 years of coverage. Thanks in advance for your input.
As long as it was taken care of, Fuel Filters done, Oil changes done, you should be good.
The 6.7 with the 6 speed is a very reliable setup. The achilles heel of the setup is the CP4 and the CCV setup.
The CP4 can be changed out to a DCR PUMP which is $2000 for parts and about $800-$1000 to change out unless of course you do it yourself. If you do get the warranty and your CP4 explodes, they will most likely point a finger to bad fuel and it won't be covered anyway. If it does in fact go, you're looking at a $12-14K bill.
Your CCV on the 19 should be the non-serviceable unit which is the better of the two. The older 2017 and 2018 had a filter in the CCV which would clog up and cause the lower oil pan to leak due to excessive crank case pressure.
I definitely do recommend buying the Ford diesel care warranty, good to 200K miles
It will cover the entire engine and fuel system, and if the CP4 implodes it will cover it.
I have first hand experience with both of the above situations.

thanks for the info. I did call for information on a Ford ESP plan yesterday, but they haven’t gotten back to me. My experience with the ESP plan has been good in the past.

Don't really need the ESP, IMO, just the Diesel Care.
If you get the ESP, make sure it covers the fuel system specifically, and if you go for that much money, make sure it covers the DPF too.
Diesel fuel system and DPF are the two biggest expenses if they fail.

May be wrong but ESP is not available after 41 months from date of purchase when vehicle is brand new.
