Alternate location for Engine Coolant Temp Sensor

Good Evening,

My Reman 6.8L does not have the original location of the ECT sensor drilled out of the driver-side head under the intake manifold, so I need to find another location for the sensor. I see that the intake manifold's integrated coolant crossover pipe has a port that is plugged, that appears to be the same size as the sensor I bought. It's the port that's close to the thermostat. I'll add a picture for reference. I just wanted to double check that this would be an exceptable location for the ECT sensor, I can't seem to find anything searching on Google. Thanks in advance!

IIRC, the 2001 model year was the last for a ECT.
