I had to replace the bed on my 55 and got a new one from Midwest early. It has the stake pockets cut out but is basically a tab cut out on three sides. My question is if I want to add a bed rail do I just bend these down somehow or cut off the one remaining side? I would post a pic but the panel has been delivered to the body shop for prime and paint. Probably should have taken care of this before paint but just dawned on me this morning I didn't take care of this.
Maybe you ought to ask your body man to cut them off before he paints.
In 2016 I bought a bed from Midwest. It's 4 stake pockets were perfect. The manufacturer must have over looked that on yours.
Thanks Abe, yeah I guess that's possible hasn't thought about that. I forgot to take him the tail gate before I left on vacation this past week so need to deliver that to him this morning so will ask them.
My factory bed has the tabs and they are bent down, but not straight down. There is a slight gap before they bend down. I'm attaching 2 photos, one of the front and rear pockets.
With his thumb???? Wow. Stronger hands than I have!
Glad you got it done before paint! And don't forget pics after painting.
Yeah I was surprised as well. They have all the bed
parts, running boards and front grill right now I'm rewiring the cab and finishing up some odds and ends until they are ready for that.
