A friend of mine just purchased a 1987 F150. It is a dual tank truck. Someone has already been under it hacking in the fuel system. For sure parts are missing. Our query…would it be possible to update it to the later model pumps with check valves and eliminate the switching valve, rail mounted fuel pump, etc?

 

Yes totally possible, you do need all the fuel lines and tanks w sending units from a '90+ truck.

 

Is 1990 when the change happened? I have not seen the truck yet but it sounds like there has been major hacking. It is a 1987 and there is no fuel filter or fuel pump left on the frame rail.
