My 2018 F250 Super Duty 4x4 Crew Cab has 85K miles. 6.2L Gas engine w/6 speed auto. This is supposed to be the most bullet proof motor/trans combo Ford offered in 2018. Curious as to if I should be looking at changing transmission fluid & filter? Not interested in a Power Flush because I believe it invites problems. Truck has been problem free and only back to the dealer for a steering dampener (twice) due to death wobble. Mechanically it has been a great truck. Wondering what others would suggest?
I’d suggest changing the fluid every 60k but better late than never.
Most shops use a “fluid exchange” style of machine now instead of a true flush. They hook into the cooler line and the machine has a bladder in it. As the transmission pumps fluid into the cooler that pushes against the bladder and pushes the new fluid in.
The machine we use exchanges 16 quarts of fluid. A pan drop and filter change will probably drain out 6 or 7. There’s nothing wrong with that either. In a perfect world I’d like to do a pan drop at 60k then exchanges every 60k afterward.
