have you seen or been in Honolulu? smog there was as bad as LA and that's in the middle of the ocean,locals blame it as from china

China is 5000 miles of open ocean away from Honolulu, I can't imagine it is from that. With the hills, population density and the trade winds doesn't surprise me they have smog.

Last time I was in Honolulu was January 2020 and I didn't notice any smog. Coal dust does blow from China all the way to Alaska. When there are wildfires in Siberia the smoke blows all the way over to Alaska. It is not unthinkable for smoke from China to blow all the way to Hawaii.
