Our 92 E-150 has no AC or heat. the blower works and switches from floor to defr. No Prob. Heat guage normal, no overheating. Mountains of CO. Freezing my nuggies off
We are looking to see if hot coolant is in fact making it to the core. If hot coolant is reaching the heater core and you don't have heat, you then may have a plugged heater core. If on the other hand you have hot coolant reaching the core and your return line is hot, air is not blowing through the core or at least the warm air is not making it to the cab.
We traced hot hose into the HTV, heater valve, but found very little heat coming from the other side. Replaced the HTV and IT WORKED!!! Have heat and blow. YEA
Now, can you tell me, does this have any affect on the AC? It did not work this summer. Because it is cold here we are unable to check to see if the AC is working. What is the minum outside temp required to properly test the function of the AC??
That should have no effect on the AC. You can check the AC at any temp. Select defrost and the AC compressor should come on for short periods. This way we can at least see if your compressor is alive. On a '92 I bet your system is low on R12 and you probably need to put a set of gauges on it.
