Every time I touch brakes display goes from “trailer connected” to “trailer disconnected “, even though there is no trailer connected. If temperatures get above +5, or, below -5 ( Celsius) the problem goes away. The blinker blinks fast when it says “trailer connected”.
Crawl under the truck and look for the harness that connects the plug in the bumper to the frame, disconnect it and clean it out, then get some water proof stuff for electrical and spray the two parts before plugging them back in. Sounds like there is corrosion in there.

Take a look at your trailer plugs as well and see if they are corroded or not sealed. Check both on the hitch and the one in the bed if you have the 5th wheel prep package. These are easy to check.
