DTE

have f250 xl 2019 crew cab short bed. on computer the is choice of distance to empty regular or tow. what is the difference.?

You burn a lot more fuel towing. I'd assume it will be a lot more conservative on estimates while towing to account for worse mileage.

Mine updates as you go. The last long trip I took it stated out with 400 plus miles DTE and it just counted down faster to match my actual 240 miles of range when towing.

maybe the f series is different but mine doesn’t change the DTE based on the drive mode. I wish it did, but it just calculates based on fuel consumption and updates as we go.

I don't use the tow version. I've never had an issue with getting an accurate measure of how many miles to empty. Maybe in the background it switches it for me because I use the transmission's Tow Mode.
