I have a 2004 E350 super duty van. The other night when I was driving I stopped smoked something funny looked at the rear end and I had a hole in it and steam or smoke coming out of it so I had it towed home because it sounded like metal to metal I didn't have any fluid in there so this is what I found when I took off the cover can anybody tell me what these bold that are missing are for and how easy that is to change
Sheared off or come out ring gear bolts
I see them shear off on plow trucks
You will most likely need a gearset and a new carrier with a bearing and shim kit
Means overhaul
Might be pretty expensive 2-3000, depending on how many parts you need and the shop labor rate
How handy are you? You got a press and a dremmel tool? How about a dial indicator on a magnetic base and a digital calipoer?
Maybe you could learn to set up a rear end right now
