I have been on the hunt for this particular rear diff ID from the original tag off a 2002 Crown vic that is now mounted under my F100.
V059A ?? I cannot find anything on this?
3L27/ I know this LS w/ 3.27 gear
88 / 8.8 rear
2B06 / date of manufacturer. got that too.
The V059A, cant find anything, like to verify axle which I am sure is a 28 spline
Can anyone help in this decoding, again I cannot find this particular code. V059A. ?? V059A ?? I cannot find anything on this? 3L27/ I know this LS w/ 3.27 gear 88 / 8.8 rear 2B06 / date of manufacturer. got that too.
I want to rebuild this 8.8 out of a 2002 crown vic, axle spline count and diameter for replacement axle bearings and of course going to change ring and pinion for stepper gear ratio.
HELP.
Tks Hammy
Kind of surprised that all of the views and no help on the rear end code, but I get it.
What I have found, which is not much but have seen a statement that the V059A, indicates a 3:73 rear gear. ?
There is absolutely no info that I can find and confirm this.
Sorry for not really having the low-down on decoding.
I would say your best bet if you can't find any info is to visual inspect it.
IDK if you did a fluid flush & fill when you got it, but if it's due, just pop the rear cover & count the teeth on the pinion gear & ring gear.
Divide the # of ring gear teeth by the # of pinion gear teeth & that is your ratio.
I thank you for this, some years ago when I installed it, i did a fluid change however the gear ratio was not on my mind. Being I have heard some noise, sounds like clutch packs, and added modifier as well, I am thinking of going in and rebuilding the rear, new axel bearings, and while doing so, change out the clutches and add a 3:73 gear. So, in doing so, I wanted to ID the rear and make sure what I purchase is correct for the rebuild.
Thanks again and when I do find out, I will post it.
Hammy.
