Weird engine power loss

I have a 97 Fleetwood pace arrow vision on a Ford F53 chassis. Engine is the 460 gas.
I'm getting a lot of dieseling and after about 2 hours of driving the engine looses power. I can't get over 2k rpms without the engine bucking and the check engine light comes on (OBD-1) If I stop, turn the engine off, wait a minute than start it back up all is well again though for how long cares from time to time.
I know the timing is off as when I got it the hold down bolt was loose, i set it as best i can but because of the dog house design i cant see the timing marks any advice.on how to rectify that issue would also help.
like I said this, even though its a 97 is still OBD 1.
Fuel tank and pump are new 80 gallon tank and fomoco sourced in tank pump (2023)
mileage is 33,576

Did it do this before you replaced the tank and pump?

I moved your other thread to the engine forum.

Well I’m not the expert but since it resets it self when turned off I would guess it’s electrical.

I suppose there could be the outside chance that your getting a vacuum in the fuel system.
That would mean under that condition if you opened the filler cap the problem would go away but I would have thought that someone replaced the full cap with the new tank and pump. .

If it was mine, I would be looking at the ignition coil, electronic ignition module or a ECU going bad. Being a van chassis, that distributor module and coil are going to get hot. In the 87-96 trucks the capacitors go bad in the ECU and create running issues.
