Ranger Owners?

Any other Ranger owners in the group? I've got a 1987 Ranger 2.9L V6 Cologne engine rear wheel drive. This is my first project vehicle with no prior mechanical experience besides doing my own oil. I bought it last May so my wife and I would have a cheap 2nd vehicle which would provide some utility.
Slowly working on improving and restoring. Recently changed out the power steering hoses due to a large leak at the reservoir, changed the PVC valve and breather (oil leaking at the grommets and boy were they old and gummy), changed the IAC valve, EGR valve, DPFE sensor, and MAP sensor.
Since doing the PVC valve and breather, I have a much greater oil leak, I'm hoping just from the valve cover gaskets (lots of oil around here). I think it is happening because there is more pressure on other leaks due to the top of the valve covers no longer leaking. Doing research, if it is the rear main seal, that requires an engine pull 🙃

I have a 96 Ranger with the 2.3L. I have done a few things on it over the years but nothing major. My main project is my 1975 F-100 Ranger. For what its worth I was able to replace the rear main seal on the 75 when I replaced the flywheel and did not have to pull the engine.Of course that was on a totally different truck with a totally different engine so it may not apply to your Ranger.

I am sure that you have found the Small Chassis Forum which I imagine will have some info.

Let us know how it goes!!
