Why are there different housings for the left and right. The left hand has a clear lense in the bottom molded in but the right side does not.
Also got these from LMC. The left is manufactured by Vintique it looks like and the right by united pacific. The spacing on the rear mounting bolts are different and neither lined up with the bracket although the right is closer.

Thanks!
After looking at the pictures again, I don't think those are the correct taillight brackets for 53-56 trucks. In the 3rd picture I see the bracket lying on the table, not the correct one. The brackets should be straight, without a bend.
It looks like they used those brackets because of the home made bumper. They were crimped in when I took them off and I flattened the mounting area to get them back to shape so that makes sense they are the wrong brackets.
You can see to the left of the license plate where there was a light for the license plate they put on.
I will modify them to mount so they don't interfere with that support on the bumper to the bed.
A little heat in the proper place, some polishing and those brackets will work. Have any horseshoers around you. They look to be the correct brackets but have been modified to accommodate that bumper. Heat allowed the metal to stretch.

But the correct straight or flat brackets won't work for him because of the bumper supports.
