One of the post in the last few weeks or so I brought up the New not rebuilt PSC steering gear and questions were raised about shaft size.
replaced one yesterday and took some pictures with it next to the stock gear.
No “measurements” but I believe u can tell from the pictures there is a difference.
I rebuilt everything under the front as far as steering goes except for steering gear and steering shaft. Still had some play. So I put the PSC box and a Borgeson steering shaft in it. Night and day difference. The slightest movement in steering wheel transfers to the wheels. Very tight steering.
i just felt instead of buying a reman box from Blue or Red I would rather have a true New box with a larger shaft and bearing.

Looks like your hunch is paying off. Do you happen to have a link to the retailer you purchased the PSC steering box from that you could share with us?
Actual website for PSC to read more detail and see two options.

I would say the steering is lighter. It turns with less effort. How much is subjective. If my steering was tight already not sure I would make the plunge until I needed a steering gear.
Should also point out this was done on a 2WD.
when I have to replace the PS Pump I will probably use this as well to increase pressure.
