I have the radio and I prefer having the display on the radio and not on the handheld mic. So, now that we got that out of the way, does anyone know how to remove the pictured bottom shelf so that I can drill holes in it for a clean installation? I want to bolt the radio bracket to it, run the power lines and coax through the bottom of it and re-install. I'm hoping it is something simple and easy to remove and replace it. Thanks in advance for any answers.
I have a console truck, so not a huge help to you.
Have you tried to remove it at all?
Is there a rubber mat you can remove and look for attaching hardware?
Have you pried off the left and right surround to see if it is bolted there?
Hit up crutchfield or other car audio websites. Sometimes they have instructions and pictures on taking apart your dash to install a radio. It might be a good starting point for you.

oh yes- all of the above- usually there is an obvious way to snap these types of things on and off without breaking them. Not this one- it looks like the only way to get it out, then back in, is to completely remove the entire bezel. I was hoping someone had a little secret way to do it, hells bells, the dealership doesn’t even know, other than to tear down the entire dash. I’ll find someone with a small right angle drill I can borrow
What trim level? Hard to tell by the photo, but if an XL, You may be able to get it into the cubby under the radio. Most of those GMRS radios are small. As afar as your question, I did have my whole center stack out, but can't remember the process off the top of my head. I think you have to start on each side with the horizontal trim pieces and work towards the center stack.

you have a sunglass case on the same shelf that I want to mount the GMRS on. It’s the XL trim level
