That explains how your cable got so beat up in the first place, that bracket holds it in place by two bolts on the bottom left of the motor, yes you need tI reattach it, that cable is too big to swinging around.

@Leroy Unlisted I have a follow-up question. I managed to remove the elbow and bracket, but I don’t quite get the lower bolt on the bracket in your picture. You can see from my pics that if I attach the top bolt for the bracket, it curves around the bottom bolt that secures the negative cable and ground. So what exactly is that bolt sticking out of the bottom of your bracket? As is, mine would just be held on by the top bolt. Thanks.
Bracket. With top bolt in place, it would curve around the bottom bolt holding the negative cable. Yours seems to have a bolt and nut sticking out the bottom hole that curves around the negative cable.
It's probably one of those weird bolts with the nut in the middle, not on the end..
If you cant find one, just make a stud, find the thread size and pitch for that hole, and cut the threaded shank of a long bolt off, or use a piece of all thread, could slot it for a flathead screwdriver to drive the stud.
