My sport custom door panels have seen better days. The fiberboard is warped and the fake chrome is peeling off of the plastic.
I don’t like any of the aftermarket options so I decided to take a stab at making my own.
I opted for 3003 aluminum as a base.
I have some ideas for overlay material. 🤔
Picked up some vinyl and some tweed. I guess it’s kinda hard to tell the real colors from an interweb pic.
I’m still waiting on some sew-foam and some acrylic felt to arrive.
Also picked up these sweet NOS 1965 Mustang window cranks
Interested in this as well. How much of a departure from the stock look are you going for?
The stock panels are sport custom so they are just one color with the narrow “chrome” plastic trim.
If all goes as planned, these will be two tone, vinyl and fabric with some polished aluminum to separate the two fabrics, stock armrest and 65 Mustang window cranks. Also, the driver side will need a provision for the remote mirror control, as I am using 1969 Mustang sport mirrors.
Thanks for your reply. I know that the 67 F-100 has a lot of one year parts. The last time I was in my local JY. There where some early Mustangs. Looks like I need to make a trip.
Hand filing d-shaped panel clip holes is tedious work. You can’t just drill 3/8” holes and stuff the clips in because it spreads out the clip and they’ll be loose and possibly be visible behind the vinyl.
