Here is the heater I am talking about in a 53.
yea the 53 got the earlier cheap dealer installed heater until stock was depleted. 53 also had the fresh air at that time

I've seen pictures of the fresh air heaters in 53 trucks and they looked like the 54 Fresh Air Heaters.

Who else is as impressed with the folding carpenter's ruler as the other tools?

In the 55 F350 however I found all these tools behind the seat.

It looks like the F350 jack is bigger than the otherbottle jacks I have seen. The F350 jack base measures 4" x 5". Other jacks I have are 4x4.

I've got several folding carpenter rules... I even have one with "one tenth" divisions and stadia markings on the back side
All if mine are wood with brass hardware... that one looks to be plastic/

Believe it or not, there is still an industry that uses folding rulers. Logging. It's called a Doyle Log Scale and is used to calculate the board footage of a log based on length and diameter.
I only use it to measure 13" for my stove wood.

when I was a lineman for the power company we still used them as they are safer around power than a metal tape measure.

John, I wasn't sure so I went to check. It is wood. I have another one that is broken that I keep in the glove box of my 54. It is plastic. See the pics.

Wooden rule, see where some paint is chipped off

Regarding the Ford road side flare set, here is one I recently picked up. I know Abe has one too.

This set is missing the red flags that attached to each reflector, but I have the flags from another set.

Seeing all the folding rules, here's my last from the early 70s. A brick masons rule with courses marked on the reverse.

We sure did hijack this thread LOL

Brian, I had to buy a partial off brand set to get all components for the Ford set I bought.
MT, I never saw a masons rule.

I like them because they are rigid and don't bend like a conventional tape rule.

flags and spring arms are easily found The hard part to find is the original instructions. I have a few on the shelf plus one in every truck

A few???

Instructions for the reflector flares? I have the instructions for the Grote Reflector Flare set that was in my 54 when I bouight it from my Grandpa.

you can see the box is rusty. This shows you how badly my cab leaked. I wish I had taken it out of the truck when I bought it in 1977. It might be in better shape.... or I might have misplaced it.
