You really should put up pictures of the pickup you are talking about. But in all reality. Honestly how many 60 year old any things have original paint? They are out there but they are rare.

Rare indeed, which forces me to exercise my patience even harder. I don’t mind paint with patina and/or primer showing through. To me, there’s nothing worse than a poorly done paint job. Colors never seem to come out the same as the original.
So I have a '66 F250 Camper special, largely all original including the now tatty paint with patina. I also have a few dents, some holes from where the old western style mirrors were installed (I now have the little round Crome ones that a previous owner installed). I love my truck. But, in the long run, I would prefer to have her looking her best and not just shabby chic. So...if the paint was done well and you like the ride, even if it's not original, what do you have to loose? Best of luck with the decision process, without being able to see the truck, few of us an offer any advice. Then again, I can understand why you would not want to post a picture of a truck you are hopping to buy. Can you find someone local to the truck to do a PPI on it for reasonable money?
Here is a pic of the truck in question. It's not bad by any means, I just wish they kept the original paint which they said was in decent shape before the resprayed it.

First off, cool truck!! Nice looking F250 step side. Someone with way more knowledge than me will be able to chime in, but from what I remember from other posts, the wheels are special, in that they hold the dog dish hubcaps from the inside not the outside, and I think I remember reading that they are pretty hard to find, but I am not expert and my truck has later aftermarket steelies. I have only seen the mirror in the catalog, if it is the one I think it is, it is telescoping and that is pretty cool too. I don't see anything that screams run...and the color is beautiful. Is it the original color and have you seen a picture of the build plate to see how it came from the factory?
Now I have to ask, what motor and trans and do you know the rear diff number or ratio. If I remember correctly, you want to take it back to the Atlanta area. I used to live in Roswell by the way.
Anyway, I will be interested is reading what others might think or have to say.

The color is dark green/holly green. It has a 4 speed and a 292. Haven't seen the build plate/vin tag on it. I've been liking the flaresides lately. You just don't see them everyday. Hard to really tell the quality of paint without seeing it in person. From the pics, its not bad by any means. :-)

The 16 inch 5 hole are hard to find as they were an option on 1/2 tons. I don't know about the 16 inch 8 hole one piece wheels
IMO, a quality repaint in the correct factory color is not a negative, especially if you get before paint job photos. There are original paint trucks out there, but, very few have GOOD original paint. This is a '62 F 250 with a shorter 122" wheelbase, which gives a rougher ride than a '64 F 250 with a 128" wheelbase and a much rougher ride than a '65-'66 F 250 with twin I beam and 129" wheelbase. Wheels appear to be the optional dreaded 2 piece 17" (widow maker) not the lock ring 2 piece 16". Custom Cab a plus, but, probably has 4.56 or 4.88 gears.

Thank you very much for the info. Its an interesting truck for sure. I'll have to find out if the owner has any pics before the respray.
P51P28, Hopefully the seller can get you some pre repaint photo's and yes, it is hard to see what the paint is like without seeing it in person. Skidoorulz, thanks for the info about the 5 vs 8 lug rims, good info to have. I guess I should start looking for the original style rims for my '66. I think the ones on my truck are later remakes. Tripleframe, as always, thanks for sharing your knowledge. So in the case of the wheels on the F250 that P51P28, is looking at, you believe these are actually 17", and what makes them window makers? For my taste, the wheels look really cool, did that style also come in a 16"? I guess I should get off this thread and look for an old one about wheels...

I love the wheels myself. Old farm mud tires. I would get some new aftermarket Power Kings. If they are in fact the widow makers, I'd have to find some later rims from another 250.
