New 6.0 Owner

I just bought a 2003 6.0 L w/ 10K miles. Right when I drove it off the lot the air filter button blew off. This resulted in a loss of power. The dealership fixed it in one day and it's run great ever since. However, I've only put 300 miles on it. I'm wondering if I'm going to have problems- has any one else experienced this?? Is 12/02 a good build date, or not?
Thanks,
The New Guy

Welcome to the ownership of the 6.0. There are many owners with a Dec 02 build date that are happy. There are some others who aren't. Just enjoy your truck and deal with issues, if they come up, unemotionally. I find I get a lot more done with my dealer service if I do.

I am not familiar with the air filter button. I don't know how it would blow off since it is on the intake no pressure side of the turbo. If the hose blew off the turbo, it would make sense. There was a TSB out on that problem and a simple fix.

Also not sure what you mean by the air filter button, but I had the air filter sensor (a small plastic can on the back of the filter) break off on mine. I didn't notice any loss of performance - just the "change air filter light" lit on the dash. I bought a new filter before realizing it was just a broken sensor housing. (Dealer replaced it under warranttee.)

Like SBV4 said, enjoy your truck. I have essentially the same engine build date and miles, and have had no problems. Half of my miles were towing a 6 ton 5er trailer.

But just to be prepared in case.... you might want to check this forum for the problems a few have had, especially regarding the injectors with this build date. Unlikely to affect you (or me), but never hurts to be aware that such issues are out there.

Incidentally, if you are new here, Welcome. This forum is by far the best place I have found for info on this truck. (Helpful folks too.)
