I have a 2003 F-250 6.0. Do not know when it was manufactured. I took my truck in for the Irractic Idle problem. They reprogrammed cpu and replaced O2 sensor. I got it back and thought I noticed less power and worse gas mileage. Mentioned it to the Service Manager and he said I was probable wrong and the reprogram had no adverse effects. I have been reading all the stuff posted and and do not know what I should do. I do not want to be stuck with a poorely running, problem child for a truck. Their is still a little bit of idle problem but nothing like what it was before. Can anyone give me some advice. Also, where do I find the Water fuel seperator and do I need to change fuel filter at the same time. My service dept says I do...my old diesal I did not have to change fuel filter at same time. By the way.. Ihad the reprogram done in the end of OCT.
The primary fule filter/water seperator is on the inside of the frame rail on the driver's side of the truck, just about under the middle of the doors. You can drain any water out by removing the brass plug on the side, it uses a 6MM hex wrench(Allen wrench). TI think the book says replace fuel filters every 15,000 miles. The secondary fuel filter is on top of the engine, right beside the oil filter. . you buy the filters as a set of 2 with new "O" rings included.
Looks like my Manufacture date is 2-21-03 Any advice. Should I take it back in to the Dealer....Call Ford consumer relations. is there a newer reprogram other than the one done in late October?
My truck is a 12/02 build date. I had the October flash done and it runs just fine. There is no later flash out just yet, but expect one soon. What is your mileage averaging?
You gotup problem. Kemosabe. Mine will do an honest 20 mpg at 65 mph without a load. This weekend I came back from hunting in Georgia with a full tank, a 110 Gallon tank of Deisel fuel in the bed, and all my dogs boxs, etc and got right at 18.5 mpg on the trip.
