Transmission
have a quick question. While driving yesterday it seems that I may be having transmission issues.
While running about 75 mph at times the truck acts as if when coasting down hills it slows down.
In my opinion it acts like I have down shifted or the electronic tow brake is on. Any suggestions on what to look for? Thanks in advance!

Their 10 Speeds suffer with bad valve body. Ford and GM used similar designs for their "not Allision" transmissions. Apparently, GM didn't get it quite right.
This video is a "tell all". Ford 10 Speeds are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but they aren't locking up. A friend with 7.3 has had nothing but frustration with his and has been back multiple times for shifting issues. Ford had to buy his last truck back so they know he's not a lay down customer.
"Flying Wrenches" on youtube has addressed the aluminum drum problem.
has been through valle body change to address 4 to 5 flare..real bad flare
combined with 1st to 5th harsh upshift from a stop, normal throttle
tcu update for delayed drive to reverse and delayed reverse to drive..not talking couple seconds. I am talking 6 to 8 seconds, one Mississippi , two ........
Valve body fixed both
Then on test drive nothing above 8th
It refused to upshift
And slowing down, once it was in range for 3rd.
it downshift hard enough to leave rubber as tech stated 4 or more feet on pavement
Repeatedly.
So now ford is orderd a new transmission and trans cooler
so far.. I guess the new one arrives this week
I found next day at ford parts.
i guess dealer used a different ordering place
i used dfw ford parts giant amazon like warehouse
shooting for march get truck back???
I will say on the record
the dealer is fantastic, they bring me a new loaner as required
Which is nearly an hr drive away
ford motheshmothership customer relations has been talking to me, etc
