Smile Back UP Camera Works intermitantly

Hello Folks!
I have an Issue with my back up camera on my 2013 F-350 Lariat,...it works when it wants to. I just bought this truck used, so yes, used truck issue. I am wondering if it is an issue with the wiring, or an issue with the camera itself. I haven't had time yet to research how the camera is put together- i.e. does it have a computer board it plugs into. If so, do these boards have the same issue that plagues Fords (broken solder connections to the resistors.)? When it works, it works fine(although it is useless when hitching up my 5th wheel) when it doesn't work, I just get a message on the display that the camera isn't available and to contact the dealer. Rear parking assist is on and the delay is selected for the camera. Am I missing another setting somewhere? Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thank you in advance

This thread may help you out. The wiring diagram is correct for the 2013. Recommend you start chasing / inspecting wires beginning in the tailgate.
