Odd trickle charge voltage
I’ve had this truck for 15+ years and this is the first time I’ve experienced this oddity. I have a Battery Tender installed in the front of my Ex. I have it plugged into a short three plug extension that also has the block heater plugged in. Today, I looked at the tender and saw that the status light was not green. Odd. So I checked the voltage at both batteries and, as it should have been, they were the same;12.54v. That seemed low, so I unplugged everything and checked again. Now they’re at 12.65v! That’s backward.
Anyone else experience this sort of behavior with their trickle charger? Is this one not working? In just had a good green light a week ago…
I have verified this many times, as I have about a dozen different sized "Battery Tender" brand chargers.
from 0.8 amps to 5 Amps.
if it is less than 4 Amps, it will NOT push the batteries up to full charge in Low Temps, I keep a DVM plugged in full time at the Power Port, and I look at it every time I pass the truck....
I have seen it vary from 12.6ish to 13.8ish depending on Ambient Temps with the 5 Amp BT always hooked up.
on the little Kubota tractor battery, I have a 1.2 Amp on that one, it stays up at 12.8 to 13.0 in 20*F temps
