My mom passed away a while ago and I've been doing a lot of thinking and hearing a lot of opinions. Wondered what everyone's take is. Hope this doesn't get everyone too fired up... I know some folks get really revved about this stuff. If you do, just pass. Just wanted to know if I'm crazy or not!
I know I am going because I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Through Him is the only way to heaven. Just being a good person is not enough to get in, you must know Jesus.
P.S. This is what puts me to sleep at night. It is my belief, yours may be diffrent and that good for you. Thats what makes this country great. What ever works for you.
I think the hardest job out there is trying to convert a Catholic. They have been brainwashed for so long, but if they would only open up that Bible that they drag to church every week, they would find that even their prayer structure is wrong. I am having a really hard time with this with my girlfriend now.
My wife grew up Catholic. She finally got it one day when I asked her if I should memorize a few lines to repeat verbatim every time I told her I love her or if it should be non-rehearsed and from the heart. Then I said that God is the same way. He doesn't want to hear some set of words someone else wrote for each situation that you repeat back to him, he wants original material that is heart felt.

This is one Catholic who reads scripture and understands it. Since you made a blanket statement, I'll refrain from taking the bait.
I can guess what your faith is/isn't. But it would be best if you clarified your statement and where you stand. It may be to your advantage to email me.
if i died right now id be going to a hole in the ground... that's all i know for sure... after that who knows and who can prove anything different. that's all ill say about that.
How did a post that was a simple question on what you feel will happen to you after death turn into catholic bashing? Don't bash it just cause you don't understand it and don't believe everything you hear. If you don't experience it yourself you really have no right to try and tell other people about it. The misconceptions people have of the catholic church are some of the funniest things I hear.
im catholic, and i don't mind what has been said. heaven forbid someone has a different view on something and wants you to know it. instead of complaining about it and taking it personally, try to refute what was said and prove it wrong.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 01-13-03 AT 07:57 PM (EST)]I wasn't so much offended as wondering how this topic turned anti-catholic. And I was also wondering where people got their negative views of the catholic church but that would cause big arguements so lets not steer the thread in that direction. Everyone has an opinion, world would be boring without them. and by the way I agree with your answer cek181. We can't prove one way or another what will happen to us.
"These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may KNOW that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God." 1John 5:13
Having repented of my MANY sins and having asked the Lord Jesus to forgive me and to be my saviour and Lord, I can say with total confisence that heaven shall be my eternal home.
Sure beats !!
Anyone interested in finding out how to secure their eternal future may E-mail me.
I believe Jesus died for my sins. "repeat as necessary"
I do believe alot of people have come to know Jesus in the Catholic Church. That being said, I have also heard the word taught in many other ways, and I do believe that the Catholic church in general, has "missed the boat". It's not about Mary or St. So n So or reciting some verbage or about any works you do and it's certainly not about tithing...It's about Jesus, and your relationship with Jesus.
