I have a '90 F-150. Recently, the pin from the key switch to the rod for the starter switch broke in the steering column. I got another pin, but I am having a dickins of a time getting it in. The problem is, I am having problems getting my tilt to come of. Can anyone supply a diagram of the column or tell me where I can get one? Any help would be appreciated.
Im going to assume you have all of the pieces off including the turn signal and the housing it sits in.
Now you should be looking the tilt steering mechinisim and look on the sides. there will be 2 threaded "holes". These are plugs, just find a screw that will fit and screw it in. Then slowly pull them out, be careful, that tilt spring is strong. From there you should be set.
When putting it back on, be careful! I pulled my back out and havent been the same since (BTW, im 19 with a back back?!)
The thing that broke on mine for the second time was the "Actuator" It startes the car. It cost my 400 the first time, and i figured I would just do it this time. The part was only 7 bucks.
