[updated:LAST EDITED ON 06-Jan-03 AT 02:58 AM (EST)]Hmmm, interesting... I checked mine today since I was checking one of my hub locks (which I broke, another story), and mine turn just fine up on the jackstands while standing on the brakes. So maybe there are really two things going on here, issues with the pump and/or steering geometry? All I know for sure is that the geometry is one cause, but it may not be the only one.
I guess you could put the front up and test it, or test your truck in something that will let the tires skid easily, like some sand, snow, or your neighbor's lawn...
LW555: Seems to me that the PS pump should move the tires through the little bit of resistance having the brakes engaged might offer. And the basic solid axle 4x4 front end has been around for decades. Has anyone ever encountered this problem on any other truck but a Superduty Ford?
I've had Chevy trucks for years with 4x4 and power steering...never had a steering problem (with or without brakes applied) until I got my 2000 F350. Ford tells me my tires are too big (33-12.50 x 16.5) and they wont do anything for me. Shame on Ford.
