Had an ice storm 2 days ago. During the ice storm my right blinker started blinking fast. I found the passenger front bulb furtherst to the passenger side was out. So I replaced. Still blinking fast. I also noticed the rear blinker is noticeably dimmer than the right blinker. Can really tell how dim it is when you put the 4 ways on. I replaced the rear bulb and it is the same.
Then today on the way home I lost my instrument cluster lights. Are these all connected somehow?
There is not an obvious common component between the flashers and instrument panel lights. Flashers/turn signals involve the multi function switch and flasher module. Instrument panel lights involve the headlight switch with integral dimmer module.
These problems need to be troubleshot one at a time (they may be related...but it's not obvious). The headlight switch is suspect but it could be anything from bad grounds to broken wire(s).
If you are handy with a voltmeter and test light you can try fixing this yourself. Here is the free resource for wiring diagrams but it is not easy to navigate.
Okay as long as i had the truck the headlight switch has been taped up. As i removed the tape it came crashing down. Replaced the switch and that fixed the dashlight running light issue. As far as the fast blinking turn signal everything seems good. Maybe was givin the wrong bulb at the store? Couldn't read the number on the old bulb but the guy said it looked like a 194. Sound correct?
