OK so I'm late to the party, but feel like my 10 year old 2015 150 HID headlights are getting weaker. And I know my eyes are! Of course there's plenty of threads talking about how great various vendor's drop in lamps are ...threads created by the vendors themselves. e.g. lasfit, diode performance, etc, etc. But can any actual users recommend the lamps they installed and are happy with? I really only want to do this one time. Thanks in advance for honest experience!
No factory HIDs in 2015 and up. LED or halogen. With halogen, you can replace the bulbs, with LED, HID, or halogen. With factory LEDs, they aren't serviceable, you have to replace the unit.
Thanks for all the questions/comments. It starts to come back to me now. When ordering the xlt 302 package I "wanted" the LED option but wouldn't cough up the extra coin for it. So I have the halogens. Question still remains if the LED dropin lamps are easy and effective?
Yes, super easy to replace those halogen bulbs with LEDs. Check out the sites linked below. Or go down to you local parts store and buy some Sylvania LED bulbs, which are pretty decent for the price. I put some in a 2003 F150 a few months ago and they made a huge difference. Just need to get some LEDs for my truck now, because like yours, they either ain't what they used to be, or my eyes ain't. Both I'm sure. And the other vehicles we have has LEDs now, except my truck.
So after researching different manufacturers/resellers I decided to go with Headlight Revolution. Ordered low beam led lamps and the "anti flicker" module. Delivered promptly since I paid for UPS. Their instructions claim you can get to the low beam headlight by removing three sheet metal screws on the inner wheel well to gain access to it. Maybe if you're houdini, but not enough room for me so I removed the headlight assembly. Just about 6 bolts no big deal. Had to cram the headlight module and antiflicker module into the provided expanded dust boot is challenging. But man they are really bridght! Thinking about ordering the high beams now. HR was prompt about questions/concerns both on email and phone response. 2 year warranty.
