Headlights? Standard vs. Quad Beam LED's

Has anyone been in 2017 SuperDuty's that had Quad Beam LED's and been in one with Standard Headlights on the road at night? What is your opinion of both? Are the Quad Beams worth the coin? Is there a big difference?

I apologize in advance if this has been covered in another thread. There is a lot of info on this site and I've tried typing in a half dozen search words and can't find anything on a headlight comparison between the 2.

Also if anyone has any opinion or experience with the Wheel Well Liner option in Snowy conditions.

Hello. I'm new here but I found online a company doing retrofit with leds and hids for your new truck, hidretrofitkit.com I have the old one 2014 Ford F-350 and I wish I could have the new truck since it seems to be more comfortable and also nicer look. Anyways I will try to have it by the end of this year. I would like to get this done for my truck but not sure if I should get the white ones or the black ones? My car is Silver and I have since black accents but the white headlights are crazy! Love them! Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Not quite apples to apples but I have an F150 with the LED's its night and day difference and in my opinion worth the money. All the lights are LED not just the headlights.

Mine is all standard halogen lights that's why I'm looking into a retrofit option. I prefer to have a retrofit than just add an LED bulb in which will not give me the same look and function as a retrofit does in my opinion.!

I test drove a halogen model just at sunset... totally sucked moose bawlz!

I'm being serious!. Those lights are total crap compared to the LED's. Night and Day difference, zero exaggeration.

Order yours with factory LED's, no question one of the best upgrades you'll ever opt into your order!

I have no other choice than do a retrofit , I will co tact them and ask them for a different headlights , I want to get a truly high performance and make sure all parts are OEM as housing too. What do it think about the White Platinum Pearl headlights they have? Do you think it will look good in my silver truck?

Gotcha!

I'd personally stay away from the "colored" bulbs, even the Sylvania Silver Stars are lame, anything that is still using halogen is going to be "dim" compared to today's standards (thanks to HID for starting the evolution!).

There are some threads {here} that have retrofitted LED's, but the harness replacement is the expense on this, moreso than the LED's themselves. On the aftermarket LED (bulbs). Make sure you get not only high powered one's, but are real 'rated' as the Chinese are all over the place on their wattages and lumens. Almost every ad on eBay are outright lies about their outputs, so I'd personally stay away from that market.

Another consideration is that you need the LED diode placement inward towards the stem base. Outward will get you a wash (flood) pattern, even low beam, it's just too washy. Yes, I've played around a TON with bulbs on my vehicles and powersport toys.

The Ford OEM LED's are perfect, hence why I was preaching that you order in your truck with them, but if you already have your truck (halogens), you could follow the aftermarket harness thread (guys), or go out on your own??? hmmmmmm.

Good luck! holler if you want any help!

I have the quad beam LED's in my truck and a buddy at work has the standard halogen in his 2017 f250. It's literally night and day difference. The LED's light up the road like having a big light bar on the front of your truck.

I had the same dilemma when ordering mine I don't really care for the look of the LED's and prefer the look of the standard halogen lights, but I changed my order nonetheless to the LED's based upon reviews from this site.

The LED's and the halogens are a night and day difference. In another thread on this site someone had posted where they got the halogens from the factory and was updating to the LED's. Halfway through the upgrade he took a picture to show the difference and the halogens are yellow and darker in comparison. I was on the fence as well until I saw that. Plus from the factory its only a 1k upgrade but aftermarket the lights and harnesses were $2400 last time I checked. If anyone is going to go LED, it's a no brainer to do it from the factory. I can definitely understand why someone would want to go upgrade to the LED's but I could never justify $2400.

I know is a lot of money I will have to spend on lights but I think in comparison to other people that does the same., this company seems to be the right one since they provide lifetime warranty in all headlamps they buil and parts. Also they use OEM lamps ( aftermarket are crap, so that wa any first question to them and they have both options but the ones on their site are all OEM.

Thanks guys. That's what I was wondering. My wife heard me talking about the LED option and wants better headlights. Right now we have a 2015 F-150 XLT and the lights aren't completely terrible but they're certainly nothing to brag about either. I had a SuperDuty go by my house last night with the LED option and the Cool Factor was pretty high. But like anything "Cool Costs".... I'll probably have to upgrade to a Lariat now.

LED is my vote as well. Expensive, no doubt. Headlights are much brighter though. That's the main benefit for me, but of course all lights are LED too. Less maintanance and more efficient as well. That being said, it's still a want for most of us.

I personally think the led headlights are not brighter than the halogen. The halogen is also quad. The led will diffuse the light and make it more "even" than the halogen that will be a spot light. I would not compare it in the looks dpt, It's night and day. But! The halogen headlights have more potential and can be WAY brighter with a proper hid(best) or led retrofit. In fact right now we have them with over 150 options you can choose from to make them unique. Can't do that with the led headlights.
