I have a 2003 F-150 supercrew with 4.6lL engine standard model . I have 2300 miles and it makes a hum (brief binding like) noice sometimes at low speed. It does not happen all the time but sometimes when i let off acell. then briefly at time of shift of auto trans. I don't notice anything in normal accel. Has anyone else had this problem.
This doesnt sound like anything I've heard of. Maybe you can describe it better? Is your truck 4x2 or 4x4?
I would take it in to your dealer and let a tech go for a ride with you and see what he thinks.
Thanks for the reply. I talked to the dealer and it's hard for me to make the noise happen or replicate the timing the noise happens. It is a 4X2 with auto trans. and it happens sometime as I am driving about 5-15 mph and take me foot off accel. and glide. Then while rolling, engine( I guess) goes back to 1st gear. When I apply accel. engine shifts back to 2nd gear. This is when I hear brief hum or binding noise. I wish I could explain better.

Welcome to FTE.
I assume you have checked the fluid level in the trans. Sometimes, these automatics are noisy when low on fluid, and even though it is new, it could be low. I'd check the level when hot, to make sure it is up .
Either way, you are under warrenty. Go back to the dealer, and take a tech on an Extended ride to duplicate the condition. Some of these guys are good, and once you get him on your side with a problem, you are on your way to a fix.
