Thoughts on build balancing

I‘m building a D4 code 351W, stock bore with D5AE-CA heads that are getting rebuilt. I plan on putting an Edelbrock 2181 Performer intake manifold, a 2182 cam, and a 1406 carb. Anybody have any experience with this combination? Any advice? TIA

Why D5 heads? Are you planning on flat top pistons to raise compression?

P.S. I found one source that states those heads have 58cc chambers, is that what you have?

Are you doing anything to the heads beside the rebuild? Porting?

Overall that is a solid combo, it won't make big HP but should be very torquey.

No I won’t be porting, the heads anyway. The machine shop won’t since they’re cast and said they’d take forever. I’m gonna run stock springs, but I don’t know what pushrod length to go with, the motor didn’t come with any. I was thinking about running Comp Cam kit RP-1436-16, and it includes the High Energy 8.152” length 5/16” diameter pushrods. Do I need to measure or would these be sufficient?

You should measure, a slight difference in cam base circle,, which isn't unusual, will require custom length puhrods.
