My New OBS

Started this and then lost it. Hi all. I joined last week after finding a lot of useful info here the last couple of months. You're nice people. After 8 frustrating years in a 98 F150 4x4, I went back a generation last fall to a 95 F250 for durability, simplicity, and performance. Original owner bought it new at Beaudry Ford in Atlanta (now gone), drove it <14k miles per year, then gave it to his granddaughter and her husband in 2008. They put 26k on it 16 years, pulling a 14' fishing boat on weekends. With the exception of the seat and some sun fading on the top of the door panels, the interior was perfect. The exterior needs a little buffing and some paint on the headlight bezels but it's pretty straight. It came with all receipts since 2008. I suspect grandpa had tune ups and transmission services done, but it hasn't had either since 2008. The trans fluid was good and there was no paper or metal in the pan. It has a 351 and a C6, and runs and shifts great. My seat-of-the-pants dyno places it second in acceleration out of the 15 trucks I've owned (9 of them Fords). Picked up everything for a 6 Liter tune up at Summit Racing last Saturday, and I'll get that done as soon as I find my breaker bar for these old frozen plugs. I think the seat came out great. I got the top foam piece from Jegs and the upholstery from Seatz Manufacturing in California. I recommend both. I've since added the bench seat-front cupholders from eBay.

The seat looks worth the money spent
That's a nice 95 Motohowie, the white painted ones always look the best after 30 years
Just find another seat cover or seat, might take a while, but you'll find one

The upholstery was $369.65, including shipping. Turn around was 2 1/2 weeks because they were out of the vinyl. The foam was $222.57 from Jegs. A like-new seat for under $600. They're not in the picture, but Seatz also made matching covers for the headrests. It took less than an hour from start to finish.

Thanks, Manic. Agree, it's my 8th white truck and the color holds up well. Paint jobs have tripled in cost around here in the last 15 years so I paid more attention while shopping this time. Another plus for white - you get more meter maid leeway in loading zones.

I got lucky with the cupholders. Not only were these the right color, they were cheaper than the others I was seeing on eBay. He shipped them the day I paid. The second eBay guy that had the mounting studs ended up being 3 miles away and I picked them up that afternoon. These mount to the seat front slightly off the floor so you can still move the seat up and back.

Solid looking truck. Nothing like an old Ford OBS.
