Manufacturers make the product to the specifications given them by the customer. It's not where they're made that matters as much as the design. In this case anyway, based on the problems people seem to have with MotoRad in Fords.
If you consider how many miles a typical thermostat lasts, say 100,000 to 150,000 miles, the cost per mile is less than a penny. $21.99 / 100,000 = 0.022 pennies per mile.
Murray does seem to make decent stuff though. Maybe Murray is better than MotoRad also.
